Training Process

No pre-requisites!

Anyone is welcome to attend any course supported by AACTA, no matter what previous training they may have done.

You can undertake the full AACTA certification process, or attend courses just for your own benefit.

There are 2 ways to achieve Certification:

Certification

Consists of ACT 1, 2 and 3 which are 24 hours each plus Practicum hours totalling 30 hours.

Each ACT is comprised of lecture, discussion, workshop and roleplay with self-evaluation, leading to an understanding of Perceptual Control Theory and its applications (see Customised Courses) for different professions, for parents or for self development.

Interviewing for Kinesiologists 1 and 2 are recognised Core courses being the equivalent of ACT 1 and ACT 2, each being 24 hours and core content being applied to the practice of Kinesiology.

Self Designed Certification

This allows you to pursue your area(s) of interest, tailoring courses to fit your own schedule and budget.

For each Level you need to complete a 12 hour Foundation Course plus 12 hours from any of the Accredited courses listed below

Requirements:

Foundation Course 1, 2 or 3 plus 12 hours of selected courses (for each level.)
(total of 24 hours for each level)
Practicum hours totalling 30 hours

The hours above are for face to face courses. Where a distance course is involved the hours accredited will reflect the knowledge and/or skills that the participant would be expected to have achieved.

Please note that a course that runs for 6 hours may not be accredited as 6 hours towards Certification. Each course is evaluated by AACTA for core content including PCT, application, interviewing and self evaluation. You need to check the number of hours each is accredited for.

Once you have accumulated sufficient hours on your certificates from various courses, you can apply to have the training level recognised by AACTA.

Following Self Designed Certification you must complete a Foundation Course for each level (ie Level 1, 2 and 3) plus 12 hours of accredited courses at each level plus a total of 30 hours of Practicum or Practitioner days.
